Remarks from our Club President, Nancy Murillo: Being the president of the Butte County Kennel Club has been a most gratifying experience. I truly have enjoyed working closely with so many of our club members in the planning and production of some very terrific events.
This club is a tapestry rich in talent, knowledge, experience, and devotion to the sport of dogs. Our membership includes those who are esteemed in their chosen breeds of dogs and events. It also includes acclaimed professional handlers and judges of bench shows, obedience trails, and hunt tests. Our dogs have climbed to the pinnacle of their endeavors. Truly, we rock!
We have made the joy of pure bred dogs known in our community through our shows and community activities.
The most exciting part of being your president during the recent years, has been working with such enthusiastic, busy people. The most frustrating part of being your president, has been working with such enthusiastic, busy people! We go in so many different directions, but when we come together, it is great.
I would like to take this time to acknowledge those who have given so much to our club by working as officers and members of the Board of Directors for 2009: - Vice President … Peggy Crane
- Recording Secretary … Jonna Hord
- Treasurer … Carrie (oh the taxes!) Bono
- Corresponding Secretary … Jeanette Holmes
- Board of Directors: Roze Barrett, Mike Bavilacqua, Ben Juliano, Dee Knighten, and Kay Kurdziel.
Equally hardworking in our club are the committee chairmen and committee members. Without them, events would not happen. This is probably a very sketchy and incomplete list – I apologize ahead of time if I have left anyone or anyone’s effort out. All work is appreciated … at times, people and the days just move too fast for me! - I would like to thank and applaud Ben Juliano for not only stepping forward to accept the presidency for next year, I want to thank him for his outstanding work as our web site master. It’s a great web site … just ask the hackers!
- Roberta, you are our 5 Star General … thank you for all your efforts in coordinating this Awards Banquet … and while you were moving from Orland to Oroville too! Thank you for writing our educational and inspiring newsletters and for being our Membership Chairman. Your work at the show and canine carnival was awesome – you procured and coordinated vendors at both. The show trophies you researched and purchased for us, were both unique and beautiful.
- Peggy was our Conformation Show Chair, and fund raiser chairman – both were all year jobs. You made them look easy. Thank you Keith for being her support person!
- Pamela and Gary Hartley … you have been a super addition to our club. You both have been supportive in all of the club’s major events. You have also served on or chaired major committees, and taken on research projects. Your enthusiasm and efforts have greatly been appreciated.
- Daryl, better known as Mr. Enthusiasm, you are a wealth of ideas and an inspiration to us all. Thank you for co-chairing the conformation show and leading our way in the NorCal Cluster. You created the Canine Carnival and were again the driving force behind it this year. You just make things happen!
- Mike, you have been such a steadfast member – what a gift of yourself you have given to us all. Thank you for all your planning, arrangements, and efforts concerning our training classes. Thank you for making our Obedience and Rally shows successful, and for all the many things you do for this club. You are a planner and coordinator extraordinaire.
- Bob and Roz … without you, our shows just would not be as wonderful. Thank you for all your labors of love – especially for being our grand announcer and coordinating our fabulous luncheons.
- Chuck, thank you for taking on the job of show judges transportation. I’m sure it was akin to managing the likes of a 3 ring circus! We are indebted to your organizational and people skills. Literally, without you, the show would not have happened!
- Dee, thank you for the nifty and so very useful membership booklets, for being our rally instructor, being Mike’s “right hand” in coordinating the training classes, and for doing so many “little” but very marvelous things.
- Ann Glynn and KC Goodwin, thank you for storing our trailer, keeping it safe, repairing it, and hauling it to where ever it needed to be.
- Carrie, you were not only our busy treasurer, but at the show, our very busy Ring Hospitality Chairman. You are one super charged lady!
- Jeanette, thank you for your work on getting judges for our shows, and everything else you do!
- Debbie, thank you for your work at our shows – especially the ring decorations.
- Roze, thank you for all your time, effort, and support of our club events. Your dazzling smile and happy self add so much. You are truly the Queen of the Universe. J
- Shirley, thank you for your sage wit and wisdom; you brighten where ever you are. Thank you from each of us for your tireless help with our dogs.
- Kate, thank you for carting ALL (as in boxes and boxes!) of the informational materials to dog events, and being such a great pure bred dog ambassador at our booths.
- Fred, thank you so much for your hard work at our shows – especially for the organizing and the loading of our equipment in the trailer. When everyone else was dragging bottom, you were like the Ever Ready Bunny.
- Erin, thank you for your superb instruction of our spring obedience class. You were a very hard act to follow. We miss you so much! Good luck in your new job and home.
- Kay, thank you for your never-ending support of all our events. Whenever someone was needed, there you were! Your positive attitude and beautiful smile are so inspiring.
And lastly, thank you George, for all your support of this club. Because of you, I could take the time to be president. Thank you for not only enduring our Golden family, but loving them so much.
In closing, I’d like to say, clubs are only as good as their membership; Butte County Kennel Club is a very excellent club. Thank you all!
