Agility
Offered for dogs 1 year of age and older. This class is designed to introduce dogs to the rudiments of the sport of agility. They will be presented with the basics of jumping hurdles on command, traveling through a "tunnel" and negotiating a teeter-totter. Get ready for fun! Class limited to 15.
Basic Obedience
Offered for dogs six months of age or older. This beginning obedience class will first emphasize becoming responsible citizens to both the canine and human participants. Then the basics of obedience will be trained; heel, sit, stay, come and to down on command. This class will be taught using positive reinforcement and lots of treats.
Competitive Obedience (Novice) This class is for those who would like to enter AKC trials to earn a CD (Companion Dog) title on their dog/s. In this class you will learn: how to teach your dog to heel with more perfection on and off leash; do recalls and sit in front; finish after the recall; stand for examination off leash; and sits/downs off leash. Not all dogs will progress at the same rate and may or may not be ready to enter trials after one session. Conformation
This is a "practice session" for dogs and owners who are getting ready, working out problems, or brushing up their techniques for the conformation show ring.
Puppy Socialization
Offered for puppies that will be between 12 & 16 weeks of age on the date that class begins. This class is structured on the teachings of Dr. Ian Dunbar, a noted animal behaviorist. Puppies will learn basic commands such as heel, sit, down and come. Additionally, puppies will be socialized with people and other puppies. This is one of the best "tools" a puppy owner can use for the future of their puppy. This class will be taught using positive reinforcement and lots of treats. Class limited to 15.
Puppy Kindergarten
Offered for puppies that are between the ages of 4 to 6 months. This class is designed to continue on with the groundwork that your puppy learned in puppy socialization. It's a great way to keep up the basic skills already introduced to your puppy. This transitional class will suit the young puppy not quite ready for the Basic Obedience Class.
Rally
For dogs who have had at least one course of Basic Obedience. They must know basic commands such as sit, down, come, heel, stay, etc. The classes will consist of lots of praise, treats and fun for both dog and trainer with emphasis on "fun". Dog and handler will learn to navigate various AKC Novice Rally courses and the Rules associated with the sport. |
